Mezclado y masterizado por Natxo Nogueras, Lluís Coloma y Blas Picón en Clandestinus Studios. "Lluís Coloma is my friend and one of my favorite piano players in the world. When I work in Spain, Lluis is my piano player of choice. When I’m not working in Spain he has a wonderful trio and they rule Barcelona as well as perform in concerts and festivals around the world. They play world class jazz and could easily hold their own anywhere. Lluís is a master musician, who is certainly over qualified for blues sessions. However his deep love and appreciation for the blues, along with his impeccable taste, allow him to give a totally complimentary accompaniment to the artist he’s backing, while fully expressing himself. In this setting Lluís is providing backing for a blues artist named Blas Picón, who is a fine harmonica player, who utilizes all the styles, positions and techniques used by most contemporary harmonica players. He sings rural and urban blues, rock & roll and R&B as well. He sings all these styles in English, although English is certainly not his native language. Blas manages to express all of his love and respect for the classic American blues artists, who are obviously his mentors. He manages to capture the inside meaning of a few special lyrics, that I assume would be lost on most foreign ears. They are accompanied by a stellar acoustic bass player, Manolo Germán, and an equally fine drummer, Marc Ruiz, who absolutely gave great support to this collection of slow blues, rollicking shuffles and a sprinkling of odd-ball break- up grooves that come together to form a very satisfying recording aptly titled “Honky Tonk Blues Sessions”. The entire group seems to be having a wonderful time at this recording session and the results are quite obvious... it’s a regular blues th’owdown... and folks, that accurately puts the name on these proceedings. Enjoy!!!!" James Harman- James Harman is an American blues recording and touring artist, who also does a bit of acting. He has released thirty titles since the early 1960’s, has 189 songs in movies and ;tours 24 countries, performing on blues festivals every spring, summer and fall. |
